Hello fellow friends (& most likely my mom),
As I am sure you have noticed by now, I've taken a break from posting and blogging on Tal's Tip's. Initially, this break was intentional - with the pandemic and working from home, I wanted to get situated with the "new normal" the world was being forced to adjust to. Now, however, it is as if the break has become an "unexcused absence" (because I was an education major and that is the terminology I use - LOL). I have felt extremely guilty for not posting or writing as much as I expect myself to. I expect to be consistent in posting, blogging, and keeping up with promoting my life coaching business all while being a wife, dog mom, and full-time college student adviser. Honestly, it is overwhelming and just not fun! Therefore, I decided to go on a search...a search for what my soul really wants for Tal's Tip's!
Attempting to keep up with posting and writing blogs turned into a task, a burden, and overall, an unpleasant chore. I'm not sure if I have been making excuses or just actually too busy for my own business... isn't that just crazy?! We make time for all the other things in life except for the things we want most...
Well, friends, I am here to share my thoughts with you on what I've been up to. Since the pandemic, I have been working from home for a job that I am extremely grateful for. I have also been focusing heavily on my health and overall lifestyle. From reading books about woman's hormones to completing a 12-week macro and fitness coaching program with @shelbydishesfitness (who is amazing btw, please check her out at http://www.shelbydishesfitness.com/ ), I now feel completely secure with my body, eating habits, and learned so much! So, I guess you could say I started the pandemic off on the right foot!
But, here's the kicker...
This past month, I packed up my life and moved out of the state that raised me. I am extremely excited but also 100% out of my comfort zone by not being 20 minutes from the ocean like I have been my entire life! I have gone from sunny & humid weather year-round to actually experiencing all four seasons. I now have mountains and lakes instead of sandy flat beaches. I have new stores, a new gym, a whole new world to explore! With all that being said, I am now discovering new dimensions of myself that I never knew were there. From five months ago to now, I have taken a huge step back to breathe and look at what I want to do instead of what I have to do. I have been taking this time to think about what I want Tal's Tip's to be. No one is rushing me and no one is asking, only I am putting the pressure on myself to figure it out. I know I am made for more. I will be more!
I think anyone that's trying to make a life for themselves can use this reminder:
Our businesses, our mission, our relationships, our dreams, and plans can be flexible and change along the way. It is OK to pause and take your time. It is necessary to soul-search and get in tune with who you are and what you want. Personally, I want Tal's Tip's to be something special, unique, from my authentic self. I do not want it to be replaceable or thrown together too quickly. I want it to be worth something and worthwhile. So, that being said, I need to take the time to do the real work, the hardest work: look within myself to create work that really speaks to my purpose and passions. SOUL-SEARCH!
The ways in which I am soul-searching are:
A TON of journaling!
Making a "Compassion List" - Focusing on everything in my life that is going right (instead of focusing on what is wrong, you may find how many great things there are in comparison to the bad)
Making a list of what I enjoy helping others with; what do I enjoy doing for myself; and what do I enjoy helping others discover for themselves?
Making sure I make time for me; sorry hubby! But Me-time is 10000% necessary. I have to love and care for myself before I can love and nurture anyone else. This me-time involves drawing, painting, yoga, spa days, more journaling, listening to podcasts, songs, dancing, etc. Letting myself be creative really brings out the good stuff ;)
We also need to remember that we each have a purpose in life and are allowed to take a step back to figure out what that is. To identify the things that make us unique and happy, we must take time for ourselves. I am fully guilty of putting the pedal to the metal and going full-speed ahead with all projects I attempt and then get ahead of myself. With Tal's Tip's, I am vowing to not get ahead of myself, but instead, get inside my head, heart, and soul to find what sparks joy. Once I find that spark(s), I will run with it and never look back. It will happen, I know it will. It will happen for you too, but only if you do the inner work & soul-searching first.
I have read so many books about finding your purpose and your passion. It seems so easy for others to make a successful life for themselves by following their goals and dreams. For example, my personal life coach: J Dianne Tribble, Authors Cathy Heller, Rachel Hollis, Brené Brown (just to name a few). I thought I knew how to get there myself, but I am just now realizing that success is not linear, nor is it defined by others. Success is defined by YOU and only you.
Anyway, I am still not 100% sure what Tal's Tip's is going to become but I know I am on my way to finding out. Every day I get to closer to knowing my purpose by following my inner whispers. Are you listening to yours?
Lastly, I will leave you with one of my favorite quotes (and I have a TON of favorite quotes)!
"You will get there, but only if you keep going."
AKA: Keep moving forward. Take a step back if you need to. Look inside yourself and soul-search for a little while. You're allowed. No one defines how successful you are but yourself. Listen to your inner whisper and you'll be led in the right direction.
If this resonates with you, reach out to me! Let's share our feelings together. The only thing we can all truly agree on is that we NEED and desire human connection. So, connect with me!
Love,
Tal
